English-language digital guides for curious beginners
The VELTAN field atlas
A closer look at the world beneath your feet.
Discover rocks and minerals through three approachable digital guides. Learn to observe, explore the main rock families and give your collection a useful record.
The colour of a crystal. The grain of a pebble. The place a specimen came from. VELTAN helps you turn small observations into a more rewarding hobby, one question at a time.
Three guides with three separate jobs: observe minerals, understand the rock families, organise a collection. None of them claims to be a complete identification atlas.

The Mineral Observer
Learn to look before you label
Turn curiosity into careful observation. Learn to describe colour, lustre and visible form, compare possible mineral identities and keep clear notes without rushing to a name.
Discover the stories behind everyday stones. Explore igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks through texture, visible grains and layers, with observation prompts for your next walk.
Give every specimen a place and a story. Plan a focused collection, record its origins, photograph your finds and build a catalogue you can keep using as your collection grows.

Describe before you decide
Start with what you can see. Record the colour, surface appearance and visible shape before suggesting a name. A photograph or one striking feature rarely settles an identification. Keep your observations separate from your interpretation.

Let texture lead
Look at the whole specimen, then move closer. Can you see separate grains, repeated layers or interlocking crystals? Describe their size and arrangement. These observations help you compare possibilities; they are not a complete identification on their own.

A label is part of the specimen
A specimen becomes more useful when its record stays with it. Give it a unique number and note where it came from. Separate what the seller reported from what you have checked. If its name is uncertain, say so.

FAQ
Before you choose.
Are these physical books?
No. These products are English-language PDF ebooks. No physical books, specimens or equipment are included.
Do I need to know geology already?
No. The guides are designed as an introduction, with observation prompts and explanations for beginners.
Which guide should I start with?
Choose The Mineral Observer to build observation habits, Reading Rocks to explore rock families, or The Specimen Cabinet to organise a collection. The complete collection includes all three.
Will a guide identify every specimen for me?
No. Identification may require more information and specialist help. The guides help you observe, compare references and record uncertainty; they do not certify an identity or value.
Are these crystal healing guides?
No. VELTAN focuses on observation, introductory geology and collection records, without healing or medical claims.
Do I need special tools?
You can begin with a notebook and close observation. Any additional equipment discussed in a guide is not included with your purchase.
Can I collect rocks anywhere?
No. Check local access and collecting rules and obtain any required permission. An interesting place to observe is not automatically a place where removal is allowed.
How do I receive the ebooks?
After a completed purchase, the PDF files are supplied through the store’s digital delivery service. A PDF reader is needed to open them.
Can I share the files?
The files are for personal use. Please do not redistribute, resell or upload them for others.

Observing responsibly
These guides help you observe, compare references and record uncertainty — they do not certify an identity, a value or a safe specimen, and they are not crystal healing or gemstone appraisal guides. Identification may need more information and specialist help. Check local access and collecting rules and obtain any required permission before removing anything: an interesting place to look is not automatically a place where collecting is allowed. Younger readers need appropriate adult supervision. The photographs are editorial illustrations, not authenticated identification plates.
